While this is not always the case, most respected brands such as Planon and IRISPen will work with Mac OSX as well as Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. At the time of this reading, Wizcom does not support Macs. Before buying a pen scanner, make sure to check the specific technical computer requirements for that particular model of scanner.

What types of surfaces can a pen scanner scan?

The type of surface a pen scanner can scan will vary based on model. Just about every type of handheld pen scanner has the ability to scan paper documents, including printer paper, magazines, or newspapers. Some pen scanners can even perform more advanced scans, such as scanning a wine bottle label or a computer monitor.
